The Ford Fiesta ST remains one of the hottest hatches which I have ever driven. Many moons back the Fiesta ST was my first ever introduction to the world of media fleet cars and to put it simply, it concreted the fact that I was following the correct dream.

Now the Fiesta ST is back and with the limited edition most powerful version ever, the ST200. Limited to just 160 units for South Africa. I was given the ST200 to explore, and boy was I in for a treat!

Power Delivery & Driver Dynamics

The standard Fiesta ST is already bonkers with its impressive 134 kW of power and 240 Nm or torque, however, the ST200 has a mighty 200 raging horses under the bonnet and power has been increased to 147 kW and a whopping 290 Nm or torque, the result can certainly be felt with its performance.

ST CoverThe ST200 remains a tail happy hot hatch as is evident with the standard edition Fiesta ST, but the vehicle now enjoys a lower driving stance, which is down by 15 mm from the standard Fiesta ST and an overall stiffer chassis compliments of the vehicles rear twistbeam suspension with its claimed 27% less body roll.

Packing an over-boost function which is engaged in 20-second intervals during the drive and the addition of 11 more kW or power and 30 more Nm of torque which it delivers in short bursts, the ST200 really is the hottest Fiesta ever to come into production.

3Style, Comfort & Driveability

Owing to its compact body characteristics, the Fiesta ST200 really does fit the term “hot hatch.” Its small body makes it easy to maneuver and park in tight spaces and its wealth of standard features and vehicle technology systems make it easy to live with.

1The vehicle now features heated front deep Recaro bucket seats, which are both comfortable and supportive. Full keyless entry and go, also further helps make the ST200 an enjoyable daily driver and features such as the Sony Multimedia interface with its array of media sources backing-up camera with audible sensors add to some of the vehicles nice to have features.

In Conclusion

The limited numbers available and hot styling features of the Fiesta ST200 make it the perfect aficionado car for those with the love for a pure driver focused hot hatch. The Storm Grey paint scheme compliments the vehicles powerful storm characteristics and if you are after a hatchback which can be used daily and provides supercar type thrills for supermarket type pricing, you best get hold of an ST200 quickly, these will sell out like hotcakes!
