The Volkswagen Tiguan represents an incredibly popular choice within the style and leisure-orientated family SUV space. Some time back I drove the 5-seating Tiguan and loved what it had to offer, now VW has given us the 7-seating Allspace model which packs a body that is 110 mm longer as well as a unique new motor.
More Size, More Space, More Practical than Ever
The Tiguan has always been a great looking product from the Volkswagen brand and in my opinion easily one of the prettiest mid-size SUV’s anywhere on the roads, thankfully this being said, the Allspace retains the same style as the 5-seating variant, only now done with a slightly longer body profile.
The bigger body leads to an overall improvement in terms of space, with the wheelbase having now been extended by 110 mm, thus allowing for an extra 115 litres of cargo space. Even with all the 7-seats in place, there’s still 230 litres worth of loading space, and with all the seats folded flat, the Tiguan Allspace packs a whopping 1775-litres of luggage loading space.
The Tiguan Allspace Trendline is the entry-level model within the range and features a 1.4 TSI 110 kW/250 Nm engine, all mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox. The Allspace however, now features an exclusively configured with the 2.0 TSI 162 kW/350 Nm engine with 4MOTION and a 7-speed DSG gearbox, on top of the Tiguan range existing 2.0 TSI 132 kW/320 Nm 4MOTION motor with 7-speed DSG and 2.0 TDI 110 kW/340 Nm 4MOTION engine with 7-speed DSG as I spent time driving.
The likes of the Volkswagen digital instrumentation cluster is available throughout the Tiguan line-up which provides an excellent clean and clear navigation screen and customisable instrument display. This system is very well complimented by the likes of the optional Volkswagen Composition touchscreen-based multimedia setup with everything from all major media sources to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on offer.
The Tiguan luxurious cabin space can be fitted with mod cons such as a power folding tailgate, blindspot lane assist, LED dynamic cornering headlights, Hill Descent Assist and an automated sensor controlled boot opener are just some of the options available.
