Johannesburg – Having just attended the launch of Huawei’s exciting new flagship device the P8, one thing is immediately clear, this device is one serious contender and being delivered at a unbeatable price point.
From the time that I left Cape Town, until the point that I reached the launch event at the beautiful Woodmead Country Club in Johannesburg, I was left wondering what this new device could possibly offer. Upon its unveiling at the event, it was immediately clear that this is a step in the right direction for the brand, and something very special. To begin the entire device is built of a metal unibody, which is both aesthetically pleasing and gives the sense of a solid, well built and well engineered device. This then coupled with the phones pin sharp 5.2″ display, Kirin Octacore chipset and overall spec range makes this a top performer.
With Huawei’s very own Jaco van Zyl (Director of Product Marketing – Second from Left) discussing the P8’s availability from the end of July through all major carriers in South Africa, and a fact that this device is priced at R7999-00 as its recommended retail price, its clear that this phone will be a big seller. Yudi Rambaran (Product Marketing Director – Seen Standing) was also available to answer all questions and provide insight into the many reasons why you might want to consider this when selecting your new smartphone. A single message was clear even way before the panel had spoken, the new Hauwei P8 is a very good option.
The event main key note took place in what has to be arguably one of the biggest tents available anywhere, and this was to be an evening filled with much excitement and and a great vibe, including entertainment by leading SA performers Micasa. With J Something being named as Hauwei’s creative director, I believe the future for this brand in SA will be a very exciting journey and one which is very fulfilling.
After enjoying a light and fire show within the tent, the evening commenced with presentors Eugene Khoza and Jeannie D who introduced further to the Huawei executive team, and the device was further revealed.
The Huawei P8 also offers a slurry of useful lifestyle features including:
– Worlds first 4-colour RGBW imaging sensor offering 32 % better imaging brightness and 78 % lower noise levels in photo’s
– A very fancy light painting feature
– Multi Antenae for immediate network lock, and no longer frustrating delay when stepping off a flight to pick-up a network
– Running the latest Android firmware Lollipop and all very beautifully delivered through its Emotion UI 3.1
– Other key specs include: 5.2″ 1080p Display ; 13MP rear Camera and 8MP forward facing Groufie Camera ; 3GB Ram ; LTE ; Dual Sim option and 2680 MAh battery but to name a few.
It seems that Huawei are progressing at a very rapid pace, and have done whatever possible to ensure that they are at the cutting edge of the technology market place. I am therefore very exciting to be able to show you some footage from the amazing event, and look forward to bringing you a full review of the new P8 shortly:
