Bespoke built from Range Rover’s prestigious UK based SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division, this is a quick look at a Range Rover Sport SVR which is unlike any others you’ve seen. Exclusively built for the South African market and in a paint scheme known as Stimela sa Sebusuku, which translates to “Midnight Train” in Zulu, I simply cannot find a more fitting description for what is certainly a one of a kind piece of SUV artwork.

The Underpinnings

The basis for this vehicle is the Range Rover Sport SVR. A 2.5-ton behemoth powered by an equally impressive 5.0-litre supercharged V8. This train sized engine delivers 423 kW and 700 Nm, giving the Range Rover Sport SVR Stimela sa Sebusuku a claimed sprint time of 4.5 seconds to 100 kph (62 Mph).

With massive power comes massive levels of luxury in terms of this SUV. In keeping with its bespoke nature, the “Midnight Train” features a cabin space composed of the highest levels of interior trim finishes. From the softest leather surfaces to a suede roof lining. From carbon fibre trim inserts to unique red paddle shifters and a red-stitched gear selector, everything within the interior of this SVO vehicle mimics that of its exterior trim.

There are new lightweight SVR Performance seats that feature in this vehicle, and which are said to be 30 kg lighter than the standard ones you get in any other Range Rover Sport.

The seats are finished in perforated Windsor leather and feature the SVR logo emboss within the headrests. All seats in the Range Rover Sport SVR Carbon Edition are heated. If a unique and stylish interior that hankers back to the great Gatsby appeals, very few SUV’s can offer this level of elegance.

In Conclusion

If you are part of a select few lucky customers able to afford its R2,7 million price point and one of the lucky 20 able to own this vehicle, then you are getting a vehicle that is as impressive on paper as it is to admire.
