Sold in 13 countries, over 150 countries and regions as well as being produced in 16 plants globally the Toyota Corolla has seen sales in excess of 45-million units since its inception. With these simply staggering figures, it seems appropriate for Toyota to have recently marked 5-years of Corolla by introducing the latest and most technologically advanced 12th-generation model.

Simply WOW! That is all I can say looking at this latest-generation model. From every corner and every angle, the new Corolla is sharp and purposeful, to me, it actually very strongly resembles the premium design by Toyota’s own Lexus premium vehicle division.

It is much more than just sharp edges, however, the new Corolla also features technological advancements previously unheard of in a vehicle within this segment. To start, the new model now features a fully digital dashboard. Available in both XS and AR trim levels, with the latter even offering up options such as push-button start, full keyless go and entry, a large central multimedia display and get this, even radar-guided cruise control!

An array of enhanced safety systems are also present naturally, and the new car even features an auto-hold function which is perfect particularly when paired to the 6-speed manual transmission and automated park brake.

Practical Goes Stylish

Corolla’s by nature have always stood the test of time due to their simple piece of mind reliability, practicality and ability to simply blend into any environment. Though this new model is now more angular and aggressive than many of its predecessors, it’s fair to say that it’s not the first time Toyota has gone bold with Corolla, it’s actually a progression over the models’ life cycle, take the old Corolla Sprinter, RXI, Corolla AE86 and the recently launched and very bold Corolla Hatch.

So, with its 470-litre large boot, practical and comfortable drive and wealth of features coupled with as brands slogan “Has It All,” this latest-generation is simply a progression of the brand’s ability to captivate and offer a vehicle which offers so many things in one purposeful package. Built on Toyota’s new global architecture, perhaps this new model is the brands showcase into so many more incredible offerings to come forward.

The new Toyota Corolla is sold with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty and a 6-service/90 000 km service plan.
